Escondido Signature Moving is the crew you call when the house is full and the calendar isn't. We pack it, load it and drive it, whether that's six miles across Escondido, over to a San Marcos condo or 350 miles out to Phoenix. Last year that was about 900 moves for 16 movers, every one of them on our payroll. Honestly, we've learned more from bad driveways than from heavy dressers, so we look at your place first (in person or on a quick video call) and plan the truck around it.
Then the price goes out in writing within 24 hours, as a not-to-exceed number. That's the most you pay, and California expects household movers to work that way anyway. From June through September we load before the heat, with trucks rolling at 6:30 a.m. And if the closing dates don't meet in the middle, your things sit in wooden vaults in our warehouse until the new keys show up. Beds made by supper.

PianosHeirloom furniture, mirrors, art and sculpture, padded or crated to size and photographed at pickup.
Antiques & ArtWe've done every one of these more times than we can count. Here's what each job looks like from our side of the truck.
Across town or across the county, billed by the hour with a cap you see in writing first. In our experience a two-bedroom inside Escondido takes three movers five to seven hours. We pad and stretch wrap the furniture before it leaves the room, and the beds go back together before we leave.
Three and four-bedroom houses fill most of our week. A three-bedroom eats about 60 moving blankets and most of a 26-foot truck. Floor runners and door jamb protectors go down first, the big pieces come apart, and every box lands in the room its label says. No scuffs on the stucco.
Walk-ups with outside stairs, gated complexes with move-in hours, managers who want a certificate of insurance before the truck pulls in. We sort the paperwork and the loading spot ahead of time and send the 16-footer when the lot is tight. More on apartment moving.
Phoenix, Las Vegas, Sacramento, Texas and up the coast. Roughly one in four of our moves leaves the county, and each one gets a numbered inventory, a binding price when the list is clear and tracking while the truck is on the road. See long distance moving.
Full packing, the kitchen only, or just the breakables and the art. Plates ride in a heavy dish pack. Every closet goes into a wardrobe box on its hangers, and mattresses get a mattress bag. Want to save money? Pack your own books and linens. More on packing services.
When closing dates don't meet, your things go into wooden vaults in our warehouse, about one room per vault, shut until they reach the new house. It's $79 a vault each month and $49 for the first one with a move. See moving and storage.
Uprights, spinets, baby grands and grands go out strapped to a padded piano board with three or four movers. Steps cost a little more and we'll say how much up front. A piano on hillside steps is like a loaded wheelbarrow on a fire road. More on piano moving.
Leaving the family home for something smaller takes patience more than muscle. We think the first night matters most, so we go room by room, label everything to the new floor plan and set up the bed and the favorite chair before anything else.
Bed frames, cribs, dining tables, sectionals and wardrobes come apart so they clear the doorway and ride without strain on the joints. Screws go in a labeled bag taped to the piece, and the heavy parts roll out on a four-wheel dolly, so nobody is hunting for hardware at midnight.
The kitchen always takes three times longer than anyone plans. Book a full packing day with your move and our packers do the dishes, glasses and pantry in dish pack boxes while you handle the paperwork.

Ray Ochoa learned to load before he ever saw a moving truck. As a kid he picked avocados in the San Pasqual Valley groves, where a bruised lug costs you, then took a summer job on a moving crew at 19 and never went back. Years of driving and running crews later, he bought one 26-foot box truck and put the name on its side. There are four trucks now: three 26-footers and a 16-footer we keep for apartment lots and the steep driveways off Hidden Meadows Road.
Every mover is on our payroll, and the person who walks your house usually leads the crew that moves it. We'd rather lose a job than pad a quote, so if the move turns out smaller, the bill does too. Need a gap between houses? It's our own warehouse, so storage between houses is one phone call, not two companies.
Offices move after hours and on weekends, so Monday starts on time. More on commercial moving.
Desks, chairs, files and break rooms for teams of five to forty. Each crate gets a number that matches a floor plan taped by the new door, so every desk lands in the right spot and the phones are on before the coffee.
Exam chairs, file rooms and the waiting room, moved over a weekend. Patient records travel sealed and stay with the crew the whole way.
Fixtures, display cases and stock moved on the day you're closed, floors protected, and the new space set up to your sketch.
Spare furniture, archive boxes or a whole office between leases, kept in our warehouse vaults and brought back when you call.
Five steps, the same on a studio as on a four-bedroom.

Local movers in Escondido cost about $145 an hour for two movers and a truck in 2026, $185 for three and $225 for four, with a three-hour minimum. A one-bedroom apartment usually lands between $435 and $870, and a three-bedroom house between $1,110 and $2,025. You get the cap in writing first.
| Move | Crew | Typical time | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio or 1-bedroom | 2 movers | 3 to 6 hours | $435 to $870 |
| 2-bedroom apartment or condo | 3 movers | 4 to 7 hours | $740 to $1,300 |
| 3-bedroom house | 3 to 4 movers | 6 to 9 hours | $1,110 to $2,025 |

Valley Center, Ramona, Fallbrook and Poway add a flat $75 trip charge. Everything else is already in your written price.
Contact UsThese are the pieces people lose sleep over. Each gets its own plan before the truck shows up.
Old veneer chips and old joints loosen, so antiques get double pads, no tape on the finish and a spot on the truck where nothing leans on them. More on antique and fine art moving.
Paintings, mirrors, glass tabletops and sculpture ride in a custom wood crate we build to fit the piece. Each crate runs $175 to $650 depending on size.
The pendulum gets locked and the weights come out before the case moves. At the new house we level it and get it ticking again before we leave.
Solid wood armoires, marble-top dressers, washers and fridges ride on appliance dollies with straps, and the floor stays covered the whole way out.
Moving out of California entirely? Interstate moves follow federal rules, come with the FMCSA booklet and get tracked from our truck to your door.
Selling? Most listing agents ask you to clear out half the house before the photos. We take the extras to a vault and bring them to the next place after closing.
Every time we get a surprise on moving day, it comes from one of these. So we ask about them on the first call.
August afternoons in Escondido sit close to 90 degrees. From June through September our crews start at 6:30 a.m., so grab the morning slot and save the afternoon for unpacking with the AC on.
A 26-foot truck can't always make the hairpin up a hillside lot. Tell us about the grade and the gate. Last year we ran plenty of jobs with the 16-footer shuttling down to the big truck on the road.
Plenty of HOAs want a certificate of insurance and set hours for trucks. We send the COI a few days ahead, so nobody waits at the gate at 7 a.m. for someone to answer a phone.
Any household mover working inside California needs a CPUC household goods carrier permit from the California Public Utilities Commission. Ask for the number and look it up before you hand over a deposit.
Leases end on the 30th, so the last Saturday of each month books up first. A Tuesday or Wednesday move usually means an earlier start and a crew that isn't racing the clock.
In the fall, Santa Ana winds raise the fire risk in the hills and can close back roads. If a red-flag day lands on your move, we'll call ahead and work out the safest route or hour.
Three jobs from this year: what it took, how long, and what it cost.
$2,640The big truck couldn't make the hairpin at the top, so the small truck ran four loads down to it. Nothing touched the stucco.
$1,465A young family with a toddler. We packed the kitchen on Friday so Saturday was only loading, and the crib was the first thing set up.
$5,900Loaded by 1 p.m. on a Monday, through the desert overnight and unloaded in Phoenix before the heat came up on Tuesday. Two paintings rode in crates we built that morning.
Our driveway in Hidden Meadows scares delivery drivers. Ray came out, looked at the hairpin and said they'd bring the small truck and shuttle. Four loads, zero scrapes, beds made that night.
Moved my mom from the house she'd lived in for 40 years into a condo near Kit Carson Park. The crew labeled everything by her new floor plan and set up her bed and reading chair first. She was settled by dinner.
We moved our dental office over a weekend. Every crate was numbered to the new floor plan and the exam chairs were where we wanted them Monday at 8. Price was what they wrote down.

“Loading a truck is like packing avocado lugs. The heavy, firm stuff on the bottom, nothing loose, and nobody throws anything. I learned that in the San Pasqual groves before I ever carried a couch.”

Plan on $145 an hour for two movers and a truck in 2026, $185 for three and $225 for four, three hours minimum. Most one-bedroom apartments come in at $435 to $870, and most three-bedroom houses at $1,110 to $2,025. Your written not-to-exceed price is the ceiling.
Give us two to four weeks for a local move, and six or more if you want a Saturday in June, July or at the end of a month. Long distance moves go smoother with four to eight weeks. Small apartment moves on a weekday can often happen within a few days.
No. Nobody on our crews expects a tip, and they earn a fair hourly wage either way. If you want to, $20 to $40 per mover for a full local day is the usual range. Honestly, a cooler of cold water on an August afternoon gets remembered just as long.
It's the most you can be charged for the move as it's written up. California rules call for one when a mover doesn't give a written estimate. Finish early and you pay less. Add something on the day, and it needs a change order with your signature before we do it.
The free basic coverage, called released value protection, only pays 60 cents a pound, so a 50-pound TV gets you $30. For anything you'd actually miss, pick full value protection, which repairs it, replaces it or pays what it's worth today. Valuable pieces go on the inventory sheet first.
Yes. Your things go into wooden vaults in our own warehouse, each about the size of a room, for $79 a vault a month, or $49 for the first month when we also move you. The vaults stay shut until they're unloaded at the new house.
Yes. Around a quarter of our moves leave the county, mostly for Arizona, Nevada and Texas. Interstate moves follow FMCSA rules and come with the federal rights booklet. You also sign a bill of lading, and we give a binding estimate when the inventory is clear.
